Best Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. At Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal located in Midtown New York City, this is especially true. The laser beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. The pigment in the follicles absorbs the light destroying the hair.
What Is Laser Hair Removal?
This is the perfect procedure for someone who is not happy with constant shaving, tweezing, or waxing. Having a laser hair removal treatment leaves your skin smoother for far longer than shaving and without the razor bumps that we all have experienced.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Lasers safely remove unwanted facial and body hair by selectively targeting melanin (pigment) inside the hair follicle. This works by generating energy in the form of heat at the root of the hair and destroying the hair without damaging the skin. Many patients want laser hair removal because the procedure is so quick and painless.

Common Areas Treated For Laser Hair Removal
Most common areas treated for laser hair removal include the following:
Which Type of Laser Is Best For Me?
Laser devices have evolved significantly in the past several years. Historically, laser hair removal could only be safely and effectively performed on individuals with lighter skin and darker hair. This is no longer the case. With the exception of very light or gray hair, most complexions can be successfully treated with the appropriate laser. Because laser hair removal is the sole focus of our facility, we have equipped our office with multiple devices.
We have 14 different lasers for each skin type and complexion. We have some lasers that nobody else has.
This enables us to customize each treatment to the individual’s needs. During your consultation, we will evaluate your complexion and discuss which laser we recommend for you and why.
Does Laser Hair Removal Work With All Skin and Hair Types?
Laser hair removal has become quite advanced in recent years. The best results are still achieved when there is sufficient contrast between the color of the skin and the color of hair. However, advances in technology allow us to now treat lighter hair colors and darker skin tones, even tanned skin. Gray hair and very light blonde hair or “baby hairs” may remain unaffected by lasers and so cannot be treated with great efficacy.
What Are The Advantages Of Laser Hair Removal?
People seek laser hair removal because they have hair in an area of the body where they wish skin to be smooth and hair-free. Undergoing the recommended number of laser sessions frees a person from having to live with embarrassing hair and also from the need to shave, pluck, or undergo uncomfortable waxing to get the skin they want. Once laser hair removal protocols have been completed, only periodic touch-ups may be needed to maintain long-lasting results.
Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Laser hair removal is safe and well-tolerated by most people. However, there are risks involved, such as minor burns or temporary pigmentation. The risks of laser treatments are significantly decreased when care is provided by trained professionals with specific experience conducting laser hair removal. At Romeo & Juliette, laser hair removal is all we do.
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulses are applied. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others and a topical numbing cream is available.
Are There Any Risks or Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal?
The risk of severe side effects from laser hair removal is rare. When treatment is conducted by trained professionals, laser hair removal is expected to incur only mild side effects. These include:
Redness and irritation. Some people also notice slight swelling for a short time after laser hair removal sessions. Typically, these side effects diminish within a few hours. However, some more sensitive areas may also feel slightly sunburned. These may be soothed with a cold compress.
Changes in skin pigment. Laser treatments can temporarily affect skin pigment. People with lighter skin may some bruising. People with darker skin may notice some temporary swelling. These are expected to resolve on their own.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Sessions Will I Need?
The number of treatments required for long-term benefits depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and the hair’s growth cycle. There are three phases of hair growth — Anagen (active), Catagen (regression), and Telogen (resting). Laser technology is designed to treat the hair in the Anagen phase of growth. Additional factors listed below influence hair growth and play a role in the location, thickness, and resilience of your hair.
Although each client is unique, experience tells us that you can expect an average of 4-8 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart, depending on the body location of the unwanted hair.

How Long Is A Laser Hair Removal Treatment Session?
The length of an individual laser hair removal treatment is determined by the density of hair growth and the overall size of the area to be treated. Small areas may take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas, such as the back and leg, may require up to an hour or longer.
What Our Patients Have to Say
“Most professional laser hair removal I’ve seen in New York and I’ve been to a lot of them. Other places seem to charge you less by dividing all the parts of the body to the smallest increments but R&J prices on larger areas so in the end, it makes it more budget-friendly. I’m very happy with the results I’m getting from here. 100% recommend!” -Derya C.

Skin Care After Laser Hair Removal
The skin may be slightly sensitive after laser hair removal treatments. Experts recommend the following:
- Avoid sun exposure for at least a few days after treatment. This includes tanning beds.
- Aloe vera or cool towels can be placed on the skin to soothe tingling or irritation.
- Saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs should be avoided for 24-48 hours after treatment.
- No additional laser treatment or chemical peels should be conducted on the treated skin for at least one week.
- Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 when outdoors for any amount of time.
- Once the skin is no longer sensitive, mild exfoliation can be done to prevent ingrown hairs.

“This place is great. I just recently had my first round of laser and was very nervous and unsure what to expect. The office manager is so friendly and personable & makes you feel very comfortable. She has a great deal of patience and is great. The establishment is clean and professional. The staff is great and very knowledgeable. Hours of operation are very convenient and despite what other reviews say – pricing is AMAZING!”

I recommend this place to everyone the staff and the owners are so welcoming I’m never in a rush to leave!”
