The GentleMax Pro lasers are the leading tools for laser hair removal. They are made by Candela, the world leader in light-based aesthetic technologies. Here’s some more information about the GentleMax series.
Handle all skin tones
The GentleMax Pro is actually two lasers in one. It combines an Alexandrite 755 nm wavelength laser with a Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser. This enables us to use this laser for all skin types. At other laser hair removal providers, this is a problem as their lasers cannot differentiate darker skin tones and darker hair colors, meaning their lasers can cause burns and pain on patients with darker skin tones. Or, they have to tone down the power to such a degree to avoid burning the skin that the hair reduction is ineffective and requires more sessions.
Here’s how the GentleMax Pro accommodates all skin of the Fitzpatrick skin type skin tones.
- The Alexandrite 755 nm wavelength is optimal for Skin Types I-III (I is pale white skin, blue/green eyes, blond/red hair; II is fair skin/blue eyes; III is darker white skin).
- The ND:YAG 1064 nm wavelength is optimal for Skin Types IV-VI (IV is light brown skin, V is brown skin, VI is dark brown or black skin).
Faster treatments with large spot sizes
The GentleMax Pro lasers also have multiple spot sizes. These range from as small as 1.5 mm all the way up to 24 mm. This means that we can utilize a very small spot size for treating delicate areas, but we can expand to the large 24-millimeter spot size for large areas such as the legs for women or the back and shoulders for men.
Comfortable with patented cooling
These lasers feature Cyndela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™. Cryogen is integrated into the laser handpiece, so it provides instant and controlled cooling to the surface skin. The DCD™ is synched to deliver cooling precisely with every laser pulse. The system software constantly tracks the patient’s skin temperatures as it delivers the cryogen cooling. This enables us to use higher power levels without damaging or burning the epidermis. That allows us to provide effective hair removal on darker skin tones.
