Spring Is Time for Skin

Skin Care | New York, NYNow that we’re finally exiting a long Eastern winter, it’s time to break out some skin. At Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal, we are the source for the finest laser hair removal to keep the unwanted hair on that freshly exposed skin to a minimum.

But what of the skin itself? Coming out of the torture that is winter, with its dry heat, freezing temperatures, and occasional encounters with the slush that only New York City can produce, is your skin ready to see the light of day, much less the light of spring?

If not, here are a few tips on how to improve the human body’s largest organ — our skin.

  • Citrus isn’t just for cold prevention — Healthy organs equal healthy skin, and lemons support your liver and kidneys. Vitamin C also has a possible link with preventing wrinkles.
  • More sex — Who needs fancy mud masks or peels? Just have more sex. Sex releases endorphins, which is why we like it so much. Your skin likes them too.
  • More exercise — Exercise doesn’t simply burn calories or build muscle, it also boosts oxygen levels across your body, including your skin. Your skin likes more oxygen and the other nutrients provided by increased respiration and circulation.
  • Water — OK, you’ve already heard this one: drink more water. Six to eight glasses of water per day are good for your skin. This is because the water is hydrating your whole body, which will get to your skin.
  • Tea without the crumpets — English people have good skin. You may have thought it’s all of that rain. Maybe it’s all the tea. White or green tea is good for your skin and overall hydration.
  • Scrub scrub scrub — Exfoliation is the key to many cosmetic procedures, such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion. But you can also do it at home with a face scrub. Use one of the scrubs with round beads, as they will encourage your skin to shed its outer dead cells. Don’t do this more than once or twice a week, though. Too much face scrubbing can lead to irritated skin.
  • Dare to go bare — Your skin doesn’t like having its pores covered with makeup all the time. If you can cut down, even if just on the weekend, it allows your pores to take in more oxygen, which is good for your skin’s overall health.
  • Vino is keeno — Red wine has lots of anti-oxidants. These keep your skin healthy and protect it against free radicals.
  • Chomp on almonds — You’ve heard almonds are a better snack than most everything else you’ve been choosing. Your skin is on board, too. That’s because almonds have lots of good fat (omega-3 fats) and lots of vitamin E, which your skin also loves.
